Time and Change

Ever uncertain of change? Find encouragement here

There comes a moment when it’s time to make a change. Sometimes the change feels crisp, like a fresh set of clean sheets to slip into after a long day. Other times it feels like burning, tearing off a bandage too soon—knowing the wound needs some air, but afraid of how it will feel.

God calls us to and from places, his places of refuge and his places for us to climb the highest reaches. He prepares, equips and allows us to fear and to depend on Him. He allows us to travel in the sun-scorched land, and yet, he provides the water for the journey. He knows the way that you take, and he is with you there. Whether you’re in a season of grassy green valleys or rocky, sloped mountains, he promises to be with us. He came to earth as the Emanuel, God with Us.

I’ve been in a season of change, leaving work and staying home with my boys. In this season of change, I know without a doubt that I made right move, yet it hasn’t been easy. Some days feel like I’ve walked from the rainforest to a desert. The season has tried my patience, I’ve lost and regained hope, felt failures and accomplishments—sometimes all in the span of one afternoon.

And yet, I keep clinging to what I know in my heart to be true.

This I know is true: “But I trust in you, Lord

I say, ‘You are my God’

My times are in your hands.” Psalm 31:14-15

He is not just the God of the Universe, who created the oceans and the seas, and calls the stars out to shine each night, but he holds my often unseen days, hours, and minutes in the palm of his hands. Time ticks on, but it’s always held by God.

What change do you have ahead of you? Where have you persevered even when it hasn’t been easy?
