Waiting, waiting…

So we just wanted to update everyone—it’s long overdue. I took a break from social media for about four months during and past Lent. As you know, Bryan isn’t into social media at all. So, we’ve got a little catching up to do.

First of all, there is no baby yet, no one we’re connected to yet. That is the fast version of this update!

Family picture. Here’s us–waiting. 🙂

The slightly longer version (not too long) is just the ups and downs that coincide with the adoption process for most families.

First of all, we reached our fundraising goal as of March 30, 2017. We are thrilled beyond measure! Our cup runneth over!

Also, since we were approved as of Thanksgiving, our profile has been shown approximately 10 times to expectant moms or moms who have just given birth. Sometimes the mother decides to parent and sometimes the mother chooses a different family. Each situation is different. Every situation is surrounded in prayer. We have been blessed with the wisdom of the Lord on all of these. We have held closely to the following verse:

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously…and it will be given to you.” James 1:5.

Over the past few months, we have had our share of disappointments and grief throughout this process. No matter how happy we are about adoption, it’s surrounded in loss on all sides. However, we’ve also had many moments of encouragement and celebration.

We celebrated Bryan’s birthday in February and 10 years of marriage in March! We went on a mission trip to Peru with over 100 high school seniors. We were just able to have a week away at the beach with my family, and my birthday is just around the corner, so more celebration to come.

While we definitely both thought we would have a baby in our home by now, we know that God is preparing us and our little one to be together at just the right time.

As we enter the eighth month as a “waiting family,” we are thankful for your prayers. The days add up and the waiting is hard.  We can honestly say that we are so thankful for the path we’re on (although sometimes it’s more like a rollercoaster), and we are trying to learn to enjoy the journey, without just awaiting the destination.

The beach this week at sunrise–enjoying the journey!
